Have you ever heard of the hero’s journey? It’s a story formula made famous by the original Star Wars movie, “A New Hope.” Typically, it goes…
The main character’s life is going well. Something drastic happens. Next, the character has to learn something that will eventually help overcome a challenge.
As we watch the hero’s journey, we learn how to achieve a goal against the odds.
Well, Willie Fells, CEO of 1st & Goal Recruiting and retired NFL/Canadian Football League player, understands about the journey through challenging times.
I had a chance to chat with my fellow Purdue Boilermaker about our experiences with Coach Joe Tiller. And how that help us realize what is a mentor really like. And how winning puts a spotlight on you and your teammates.
It was great to reminisce about how our Purdue football teams. How it was filled with future NFL greats. How we started a nearly ten year run of winning seasons and championship bowl games (at a time when you had to have a solid record).
It’s about transitions.
If you live long enough you will go through them. Character building heartaches that will put you on your knees. And humble your spirit.
Willie Fells, who is the defensive coordinator of Bethel University of Tennesse knows about transitions.
But more importantly that it was his social network, that includes Willie Tillman and Dino Kaklis that help him through a major transition.
What’s interesting about Willie Fells’ entrepreneur journey interview is that we go deeper into that transition story. We discuss how this Florida boy became homeless in Ohio. And the mind-shift he had to go through to take back control of his life to help others become successful.
